The story behind


One month ago I was reading a book in my studio, at the same time as I was waiting for an important email. So I kept moving my eyes from the book to the computer to check my inbox. Stressed for this situation I immediately thought I needed a new way to know when I had received a new email without having to stay in front of my computer.


The project


The Gmail Box is a box with an "M" letter perforated in its front. The box is connected to my computer.
Every time new emails arrive in my inbox, the "M" on the box's face blinks according with the number of unread emails I have. For instance, if I have three unread emails, the box blinks three times, then waits a few seconds, then blinks three times again. If I read one of these emails, the number of blinks becomes two.
